AVR Serial Port Programmer

PROGRAMMER:
Programmer is the hardware device that connects your microprocessor with you computer. In our  case out Atmega8 is connected with our computer by a hardware device called "programmer" or "burner".
The programmer is different for different microcontrollers. It is also difficult to have all the programmer that support all types of AVR, that costs high. I always suggest you to have your own programmer. Don't go to project center to tranfer program into microcontrollers. But what we do if the programmer costs high. I suggest you to that you do it your own programmer. But how to do. If you google it you could see many programmer circuit. It all not works as we think.
The programmer is basically three types:
      •             Serial Port Programmer
      •             Parallel Port Programer
      •             USB programmer
AVR SERIAL PORT PROGRAMMER:
This programmer is very simple. But your computer must serial port which is 9pin which you could see it in your computer's backside.
The programmer presented here is not my own circuit. I got it in some websites(like circuitvalley). To make this programmer you need to spend around Rs.65.
This programmer is designed to transfer your programs into microprocessors like ATmega8. But once you become familiar with architecture and pin details you can modify by your own for many other AVR models. Ok lets do the programmer:
Things you need to purchase:

10k - 2 no.
4.7k- 2 no.
15k - 1 no.
BC547- 1 no.(Transistor)
RS232 pin(female)- 1 no.
common circuit board
4Mhz crystal -1 no.
22pf - 2 no.
and to program you have to buy Atmega8-1no. which costs around Rs.160
