A REVIEW ON SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE S5830

A REVIEW ON SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE S5830

INTRODUCTION:

The Samsung Galaxy Ace, the nice phone in the midrange spot. If your processing power and screen estate needs haven’t risen sharply during the past year or so, the Ace will serve you well. If you’re going to buy a Smartphone for around 15k then this can be your right choice. Of course, it looks bigger but still fits in your pocket. The major drawback is that it can shoot video at only 15frame per second.

· Standard 3.5 mm audio jack

· DNSe sound enhancement

· FM radio with RDS

· Document editor

· File manager preinstalled

· Samsung Apps brings a few nice apps for free

· Accelerometer and proximity sensor

MAIN DISADVANTAGES:

· QVGA video recording @15fps

· No shutter key for the camera

· No support for Adobe Flash in the web browser

· No ambient light sensor

· No Divx/Xvid video support out of the box

OUTER LOOK:

The phone’s outer body is made entirely with plastic, looks high quality. There is no issue on fingerprints. At 112.4 x 59.9 x 11.5 mm, the handset weighs 113 grams and it fits in a pocket. The curved edges give a better look. Let have a look around the phone.

Screen:

Ace comes with a 3.5” screen of HVGA resolution (320x480), an average LCD screen. The brightness and contrast is okay, but lags somewhere, I thing the colour is little dull. The screen best suits for this price level.

The touch sensitive is not bad, but not responsive that much. Below the display there’s an arrangement of three keys, typical for Samsung. The hardware home key is central, with two capacitive buttons on either side – Menu and Back. The latter two are only visible when backlit – with the backlighting off, they disappear. When the backlight is off it looks like an iphone.

Sides:

On the top, there is a 3.5mm audio jack and the micro USB port with a plastic lid covering it. On the left there are only volume keys. On the right there is power/lock key and micro SD card slot. On the bottom there is only the mouthpiece. Above the screen there is an earpiece with no ambient light sensor.

Back:

The back is finely textured, immune to finger prints. We really like the new look and feel. The 5MP camera lens on the back is in the top left corner, along with the LED flash. There is a 3.15 mega pixel camera at the back. Removing the back panel uncovers the 1350mAh Li-ion battery and the SIM compartment.

BATTERY:

It comes with 1350mAh Li-ion battery. We didn’t satisfy with its performance as we hope. We want to use the phone without pushing that much, otherwise you need frequent charging and the battery life lessens.

CAMERA AND VIDEO:

Ace comes with an excellent 5 MP camera for a maximum image resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels. The LED does their job perfectly in low light scenes. Smile detection and geo tagging is another function that makes overall choice for ace. The picture looks quite good that we didn’t expect in this phone.

Ace can record QVGA videos at 15fps, which we couldn’t satisfied with it. The video player can handle 3GP and MP4 files, unfortunately not to divx.

AUDIO AND MP3:

Ace is sent with built in TouchWiz music player. Samsung have enabled equalizer presets on the Galaxy Ace along with DNSe. The great feature that allows you to quickly look up a song on YouTube or via Google search is also available.

The audio quality is quite good as we expected and also very thin. Ace is equipped with an FM radio with RDS. You can also play on the loudspeaker, but the headset still needs to be plugged in to act as an antenna.

GPS:

The Galaxy Ace has GPS with A-GPS, which is very useful to locate the places and to find the root. The application also supports street view mode that makes us to clearly pointing out the places and the surroundings. The Galaxy Ace doesn’t come with a third-party SatNav solution preinstalled but you can easily snatch one off the Android market. There are both paid and free options on offer.

Conclusion:

The Galaxy Ace is nice phone in the midrange and also the decent 3.5” HVGA screen, 800MHz processor, pleasing 5 megapixel camera, good build and, of course, Android 2.2 Froyo makes you to feel more, but we want to live with disastrous video recording and poor codec support. The best competitors to this phone available in the market are LG P500 Optimus One, Samsung Galaxy 551, Nokia C6-01 and HTC Aria.

The Galaxy is not a powered one but it delivers good performance and a good competitor in the market.
